Paths of Storytelling, offered as a free download today on RPGNow.com, is the latest product for the Vampire: the Masquerade line. According to this White Wolf announcement, it’s a long-forgotten manuscript that was rejected — and with good reason. Sure, on the heels of the Vampire: the Masquerade twentieth anniversary announcement we can understand why they’d want to keep up the buzz, but we all know not all V:tM fiction has been good fiction. Which is part of the reason why we were hoping they’d post a little more crunch. A new Giovanni adventure? Yet another awesome Bloodline?

Well, that’s not happening today. So instead, we decided to stat up one of the characters found in Paths of Storytelling in the Gangrel storyline. Check it out!

The Frenzy-Prone Gangrel Sire

Background: Short-tempered and prone to Frenzy, this sire isn’t known for his intelligence, which is probably why he’s more than a little insecure. Although his appearance and his dim-witted behavior causes other Kindred to laugh at him, he can hold his own in a fight and follow orders when he needs to.

Image: The sire is no longer able to walk the streets without risking the Masquerade. Years of Frenzy have taken their toll on this bear-like Gangrel as evident by his circular face, large paws and stubby tail. His very appearance causes whispers and gossip wherever he goes.

Roleplaying Hints: You feel more at home among the animals than you do around others of your own kind. Deep down you know you’re a monster, and you simultaneously love (and hate) yourself for it.
