Three New Releases To Read (By Yours Truly)
Posted on June 14, 2012 by Monica Valentinelli
You may have read about my 2011 new releases (which included games, fiction, and non-fiction) or seen the pictures where I showed The Queen of Crows in print.
Well, I’ve had two new releases so far (with a third on the way) and I haven’t really done a good job mentioning what those are. So let me rectify that RIGHT NOW and give you some clues about what’s available for you to either obtain, attain, read, ignore, obsess over or celebrate. (Hah, you get the picture.) There’s a ton more set to debut in third quarter, but until those hit the proverbial digital or physical shelves, can’t say just yet what those are.
Redwing’s Gambit
Redwing’s Gambit is set in the shared science-fiction universe of Bulldogs! from Galileo Games. I wrote several design essays for the story, which you can find below. There’s a few reviews, too, so peruse (or not) at your leisure. It’s your choice!
- Constructing Redwing’s Gambit: Easter Eggs – Part 5 of 5
- Constructing Redwing’s Gambit: Revisions and Cut Text – Part 4 of 5
- Constructing Redwing’s Gambit: Structure and Plot – Part 3 of 5
- Constructing Redwing’s Gambit: Characters and Treatment – Part 2 of 5
- Constructing Redwing’s Gambit: Research and Background Part 1 of 5
Don’t Read This Book
“Within these recovered pages are the tales of the Awake, insomniacs who’ve walked those perilous streets, bringing a bit of the power of dream with them to fight back the night—always at a terrible cost.
For you, a choice. Turn away. Don’t read this book. And maybe you’ll continue to rest easy. Or open the cover and enter a world unlike any you’ve ever dared to imagine. . .”
My story is titled “Don’t Ignore Your Dead.” It is an exploration of grief for a college-aged insomniac plagued with guilt, anger, and loss. This anthology is based on the Don’t Rest Your Head role-playing game by Fred Hicks. and there’s a huge, huge cast of awesome authors and it’s edited by Chuck Wendig!
New Hero
I am excited to announce that the New Hero anthology from Stone Skin Press will debut on June 20th. To celebrate the release of New Hero, an anthology that explores the iconic nature of heroes, I’ll be participating in a online blog festivale of literary goodness on June 20th. This anthology was edited by Robin Laws!
I’ve hinted that my vampires are different from those you might have read about before. You may have also seen an image of Atlas on the New Hero cover illustrated by Gene Ha.
Now, I hand the reins over to you. Help me come up with questions or topics to promote the launch of this anthology! What do you want to know about my original story “Fangs and Formaldehyde?” Me? The writing/editing process?
Ask away and HAPPY READING.
