Writing On, Writing On for the Clarion Write-A-Thon
Posted on June 29, 2012 by Monica Valentinelli
Last Sunday, I started writing for the Clarion Write-A-Thon to raise funds for their workshop. I have pledged to write 50,000 words by August 4th.
So why am I doing this? Well, it’s like I said in this blog post:
It’s a rough publishing world out there, I know, but part of what Clarion and other places like this provide is a sense of community. We all love to tell good stories and read them. Now we have the chance to share them and get to know one another, too.
Regardless of whether or not you sponsor me, personally, I hope you’ll consider helping someone else in any way you can. The path of a writer is not an easy one, but sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement to boost an author’s morale.
Don’t let my bad bookkeeping on my Clarion writer’s profile fool you; I’ve been writing and revising in between my other responsibilities. I talked a little about what I’m working on, by way of introduction, for my Team blog – Team The Stars My Destination.
Besides two short stories for Kickstarter projects, I’m working on a series of novellas and novel revisions. One novel I buried in my Morgue. It’s not salvageable without extensive work. The others I’m developing on spec. Really, is there every any shortage of stories out there for me to tell? Nope!
Hope you’ll get the chance to check out my excerpts and learn more about the workshop. Hey, you’ll never know…you may just find good storytellers you either want to look up or support!
